As I try to emphasise whenever this comes up, DFG is the work of a lot of people. My job is mostly organizing and editing the files- to tell the truth, the dwarf soldiers and the goblins are the only tilesets I did by myself (and they still have a few weapons stolen from Sphr's human tileset). While I can take credit for the icons above, let us not forget the work of the other artists (who often have beautiful autonomous tilesets of their own!):
Beefmo - enough said
Sphr- magnificent animal icons
Tocky- original civilian dorfs
Herrbdog- the prettiest tileset up to date
Bane18- additional animals
Retro NES games- some object icons
Dystopian Rhetoric, RantingRodent, Lemunde and even more forgotten heroes of the DF community.

Spriteattack Dwarves

Some time ago, I contacted Chris Hildenbrand, a very talented pixel artist about using some of his tiles for an isometric mockup of DF graphics. Without much ado, he ran off to produce the image that has ever since been pouring hope into the hearts of ASCIIphobes all over the globe.

Old Mayday 32px Dwarves

I'm sometimes asked about the image on the main DFG page:

This was my attempt at a 32 pixel tileset, made long before witnessing the beauty of Chris' work and long before actually starting to learn proper pixelart. Though the dwarves have some charm, this tileset is definitely discontinued. I'm hoping to produce something of a higher quality when the right time comes. In any case, you can still grab all the icons I created back then here.
